Strengthening Individuals and Families Across the Lifespan

Strengthening Families Program

Purdue Extension Tippecanoe County and Willowstone Family Services are partnering to offer the Strengthening Families Program.

The Strengthening Families Program is for ALL families with youth between the ages of 10-14. It is a seven week program that focuses on building family skills taught in group sessions to increase family strengths. The program emphasizes improving family relationships, parenting skills, and cultivating youth's social and life skills.

Topics addressed include: communications skills, problem solving, goal setting, resisting peer pressure, reducing stress and more!

Call (765) 474-0793 to register at Tippecanoe County Extension Office, or to inquire about dates for the next class.

The cost is only $20 per family for an entire seven week course, dinner included.

The World Health Organization named the Strengthening Families Program for parents and youth ages 10 to 14 years old as the number one prevention program out of 6,000  analyzed for long-term effects on substance use and misuse. For every dollar spent on this program, $9.60 comes back to the community as benefits for youth in the form of less jail time, less time off work, and less time in treatment. We're looking forward to seeing the continued impact and benefits within our community!
